Mr David Nicoll
MBChB, MD, FRCS Ed (T&O)
Mr Nicoll has been a consultant orthopaedic and trauma surgeon in NHS Tayside since 2011 with subspecialty interests in the fields of soft tissue knee injuries and knee arthroplasty. He also offers general orthopaedic trauma care.
Mr Nicoll completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Dundee in 1998. He subsequently completed his Basic Surgical Training on the West of Scotland rotation in 2002 before specialty training in Trauma & Orthopaedics in the East of Scotland. During his postgraduate training, he was awarded the degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD) for a thesis entitled “Component Orientation in the Painful Knee Replacement”. He also developed an interest in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. Following his FRCS Ed (T&O), he undertook an international fellowship in sports medicine surgery at the Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine institute in Perth, Australia.
Mr Nicoll is also a faculty member on postgraduate surgical courses for knee replacement and knee arthroscopy. In his spare time he works as the club doctor for Dundee United FC.
