Mr MacLean graduated with his medical degree from Dundee University in 1981. He subsequently undertook basic surgical training in Norfolk & Norwich Hospitals,  Following this, he completed his higher surgical training in trauma and orthopaedics at St. Bartholomew’s London (Percival Pott Rotation). Prior to taking up a consultant post, Mr MacLean undertook an international elective fellowship at the Groote Schuur Hospital in Capetown, South Africa.

Mr MacLean has been a consultant in NHS Tayside since 1994, and has special interests in paediatric orthopaedics, hand surgery, and primary total hip replacement.
