Ewen graduated with his medical degree from The University of Aberdeen in 2019. He then completed Foundation Training and a one year clinical development fellow post in Trauma Orthopaedics  in the West of Scotland before spending one year in Northern Ireland doing core surgical training. He then moved back to Scotland in 2023 after getting his training number on the orthopaedic run-through training scheme. In 2022, Ewen also graduated with distinction from his Masters in Surgical Sciences from The University of Edinburgh. 

Ewen is currently the publicity and website co-ordinator for Tayside Orthopaedic Research Collaborative, and is an Honorary Teaching Fellow at the University of Dundee. His main interests in Orthopaedics are in arthroplasty, infection and sports injuries. 

Outside of work, Ewen is a sports enthusiast and was previously back-to-back Scottish Champion at Shinty. He now spends more time on the golf course  rather than the shinty pitch.
